In that Versailles masterpiece, the Hail of Mirrors, one of Jeff Koons's seminal works, Moon (Light Blue), wilt be on view for three months. This offers us a chance to contemplate the profound harmony between the work of the contemporary artist and a monumental gallery designed around the play between mirrors and light, light from the gardens, refracted by water, but also the encounter between the King's emblem, the Sun, star of Apollo, imparting favors, and the large slightly bluish convex mirror representing the moon, star of the night: a sun-moon contrast which formed the very crux of the great royal Ballet de la Nuit de Lutty, performed in i653 by the youthful Louis XIV with apparently breathtaking verve, where, clad in a gold and diamond-studded costume, he triumphed over darkness--and allusion to his triumph over the Fronde？...
