The idea for the making of this book was actually born a year ago, together with the first drawings of my rediscovery: the works of Paul Gauguin. Again I was fascinated by his use of colours, shapes, and his and my relationship with Asian women. I had integrated parts of his paintings into my work. In the first drawings which came into being in this way, Jeane could be seen in the foreground with Gauguin's figures behind her and together they made up a composition. I quite liked this "marriage"; for me it was a harmonious combination of these two worlds.

The drawings which you will see are part of the outcome of a year's work which shows a lot of Asian influences.
